BioActiv-Pad – Floating filter medium with innovative self-cleaning effect

The BioActiv Pad has been specially developed for biological water treatment in aquaculture and is based on the latest scientific findings. With an exceptionally large colonisation surface area of 5,570 m²/m³, it allows for the rapid and efficient settlement of bacteria, which are essential for breaking down pollutants such as ammonium, ammonia, and nitrite.

Thanks to its innovative, concave pad shape, the BioActiv pad creates dynamic water movement that ensures optimal flow. This leads to a continuous self-cleaning effect, removing excess bacterial material, thus maintaining consistently high filter performance.

The filter medium has been specially developed for the „moving bead“ method. In this process, the pad is kept in motion by flow or strong aeration to maximise contact time with the water and optimise biological purification. High-quality materials also make the BioActiv pad free from harmful plasticisers and carcinogenic compounds, making it safe for fish and plants.

Thanks to protected colonisation pores, the pad offers ideal conditions for a stable bacterial culture. The space-saving and energy-efficient design makes it a cost-effective solution for effective biological filter processes. For optimal performance, a filter chamber size of approx. 9 litres per 5 litres of BioActiv pad is recommended.
